Excerpt
Elle Sterling
The coolness of the night air had begun to set in. With the suddenly harsher wind, Lindsay and I both felt the chill and even in our heels, we hastened our pace.
As soon as we walked into the hotel suite, I was assaulted by the tang of a sticky, sweet scent. It was the smell of pot. Never one to try it myself, in my travels I’d come across many people who had. Moldy grass was how I’d always described the smell.
Lindsay shot me a glance and confirmed my suspicion.
Hard rock blared through the open space. The patio doors were open and I saw the back of two heads flopped on the lounge chairs. Even over the music, I heard laughter rumbling into the room. I was glad that at least Logan was upbeat.
Lindsay started for them and looked at me. “Shhh.”
I followed, keeping my mouth shut.
We both approached, eager to see our men, but stopped at the edge of door to watch them. They were playing cards and a baggie of pot was on the floor.
James had changed and was now wearing sleep pants and a T-shirt. He had a cigar gripped between his teeth while he tossed two piles of cards onto the table between them.
Logan was still in his suit pants but had removed everything else. Everything. Outside in his pants only, I wondered how he wasn’t freezing until I looked up and saw the heat lamps were on.
“Baby, you’re going to stink,” Lindsay said loudly, breaking the silence.
Both men jerked their heads back.
The smile that spread across Logan’s face was slow and seductive.
Sexy.
The sight of him dried my throat and made my heart pound. Right then I didn’t care about anything but comforting him through kisses.
Lindsay was still talking, saying something about the rancid smell of the cigar.
Me, I was already leaning over Logan and placing my lips very close to his. “Are you okay?”
“I am now.”
“You sure?”
He nodded and said, “Don’t listen to James. He likes to be a drama queen.”
“I heard that.”
Ignoring James, Logan gave me a single tug and pulled me onto his lap. I found myself provocatively straddling him. His cards fell to the floor, but I heard no one complain. And then his hands anchored my hips as his mouth attacked mine, while my hands gripped his shoulders for support.
“Where are your clothes?” I managed to ask.
The corners of his lips tilted up. “We had a small wrestling match and my shirt took the brunt of the action.”
I laughed.
Boys will be boys.
My dress had ridden up and if anyone was looking, they could see my panties. I just didn’t care enough right then to see what James and Lindsay were doing.
I should have cared. I should have cared just how inebriated or high Logan was. I should have, but his primal response to my presence did something to me that made me want to be what he needed. Made me want to be wild and free for once in my entire life.
Maybe it was the Lindsay effect.
His kiss traveled from the corner of my mouth, along my jaw, to my throat.
My hands moved higher to toy with his hair behind his neck.
His teeth were sharp as they skidded across my skin, but the soft heat from his tongue soothed the burn.
I turned my head to give him full access, and that was when I saw Lindsay’s head moving towards James’s lap.
Again, I should have cared, but I just didn’t.
I wasn’t sure if Logan noticed, but he turned my chin to look at him. “We should go home,” he slurred. The way his eyes flickered over me so intensely made the idea of waiting for a cab and then riding home in one seem like it would take a lifetime.
With my hands flat on his bare chest, I found myself scooting up his body, stopping only when the soft fabric of my wet panties aligned perfectly with the tented fabric of his slacks. “I want you now,” I whispered.
Logan’s tongue flicked out to wet his lips. “I’m drunk, probably not the best idea.”
I raised myself ever so slightly and lowered my body, making the most exquisite contact with his erection. “I’m not and you seem just fine.”
His hand stroked my hair and pulled out the clip holding it up. “You want this? Here?”
My breath was wild. My nipples taut. My clit was pulsing. I realized I was excited. “Yes, I want you to take me here.”
His gaze slid to the side and so did mine. James was thrusting into Lindsay’s mouth. “James!” Logan shouted.
A grunt was his only reply.
“Hurry up and get the fuck inside, will you.”
Again, a grunt was his response.
Logan’s attention back on me, his hands threaded through my hair and slid over my shoulders and down my arms to capture my hands. He pressed our palms together so that our fingers were linked and drew in a shuddering breath. “You’re so beautiful. You know that?”
“I love you.” I’m not sure why I felt compelled to tell him that, but the way he looked at me when I did made me feel like we’d both found true love in each other, and all the worries that messed with my thoughts evaporated as his gaze flared. All that mattered was him. Comforting him. Getting him through this. Being here—for him.
He brought me to him with a hand to the back of my head, holding me in place while he kissed me breathless, maybe hard enough that he might have bruised my mouth.
Again, I didn’t care.
The kiss went on and on and when he finally pulled away, I hadn’t had nearly enough of him. It was when my eyes fell to the bag of joints on the ground that I realized Logan did not taste of thyme or moldy grass or smell like skunk, and I was a little glad that he hadn’t gotten high. I had a feeling he had struggled with drugs during his life and with my own father being an alcoholic, I was all too familiar with the claim that addictive habits were hereditary.
Another sideways glance on his part had my gaze following. “Finally,” he muttered. The lounge beside us was now empty, as was the living area. James and Lindsay must have gone into the bedroom. Logan must have been waiting for them to leave.
Knowing we were alone, lust won out over good sense and I stood and stripped myself naked.
Logan drew in a shuddering breath and stood as well, shedding his pants and underwear quickly.
I stared at him, naked and beautiful, and licked my lips. That card I’d seen in the store came to mind. Just because my issues might never allow me to be submissive didn’t mean I couldn’t be the dominant type.
He held out his hand for me to take it and instead I pointed to a chair next to the lounger. “Sit down.”
“Don’t you want to go inside?” he asked.
I shook my head. “No, sit down.”
He raised a brow.
I kept my finger pointed.
No one could see us up this high and with the heat lamps on, something about fucking outside felt incredibly erotic.
A slow, seductive smile spread across his lips, and as he sat his eyes looked like dark flames. The hazel was gone, replaced by dilated pupils that bled pure lust.
Since I was already drenched, he easily slid inside me as I sat on his cock.
The sensation of him filling me made me shout out, and Logan wasn’t exactly quiet himself. I heard pleasurable groans escape his throat.
This was what we both needed.
Each other.
I just hoped it would be like this forever.
My hands were not bound but they gripped the chair, my back was to his chest, and my legs were spread wide. I was open to him. Fully and completely open to him. In this position, I was his to do with whatever he pleased.
It was then I realized that in our relationship we didn’t need a dominant or a submissive. We only needed each other.
And as his palm found my breast and his fingers pressed against my clit, I closed my eyes and relished what I had with him.
For us…give and take was all we needed.

Excerpt

Blake The next words lodged in my throat. What was I supposed to say here? I didn t do this I didn t bare myself to people. Let alone to the one person who had known me so well once upon a time.
Don t, Penny. Not tonight, just enjoy this. Just this. His thumb rubbed circles along my hand.
Finding comfort in his words no matter how cryptic I allowed myself to let go. At that moment, I wasn t broken Penny trying to find the right words to say to the guy who had once been my world. I was just a girl lying next to a boy watching the stars.
Blake sighed quietly as if he was about to say something more, but when his body relaxed again, I knew the moment had passed. Maybe some things were just too hard to say better left unsaid. Life had taught me never to take for granted the good moments because they always ended. And no sooner than we had lay down in the grass, Blake let go of my hand and rose to his feet.
We should probably get back.
Okay, I said unable to meet his eyes.
The buzz I had felt earlier following Blake into the night ebbed away and was replaced with something much more unsettling. Was this his way of saying goodbye? We still had a little over a week left; there was still time, and we were both returning to Columbus. It was goodbye but not forever. I hoped.
The short walk back to cabin row was awkward, and I fell into old habits, hugging myself tight. Blake seemed just as tense, his hands jammed in his cargo pockets and his hood still pulled up over his head. The path started to widen like the pit gnawing in my stomach. The lost me wanted to flee back to the cabin, close the door, and hide away from the emotional turmoil warring in me, but the stronger me the me I had become thanks to Camp Chance didn t want to leave things like this.
Blake I paused and turned to face him. I don t want to-
Blake closed the distance between us and stood almost toe to toe with me. His eyes locked on mine and he stared down at me; full of unspoken promise, his gaze sent my heart into overdrive. I shouldn t have waited so long to do this. His hand brushed along my jaw and into my hair drawing me close to him. He leaned down and covered my mouth with his own.
And I let him.
My body didn t just fall against him; it melted. His touch. The feel of his lips moving against mine. How did I ever let myself forget this? Force myself to forget? His smell. The way he tasted as his tongue licked the seams of my lips before parting my mouth.
Since my first kiss, at the age of fourteen, I had kissed only three other guys: Bryan, Michael, and Cal. Bryan made me cry because he didn t understand my anxieties, Michael was patient and kind as we explored my boundaries, and Cal made me feel nice. But none of them came close to making me feel the rainbow of emotions I was experiencing wrapped in Blake s arms.
I didn t ever want it to end.

NOTE: This is a Complete Novel. No cliffhanger. Dual POV. Rated 18+ due to adult language and sexual content. This is an adult contemporary erotic romance filled with suspense, light BDSM, Dom/sub play, and touching on some psychological elements. This series centers around the Prescott family, their friends, and businesses. It includes unsavory characters, a horrid ex-husband, and a security team that will go to any lengths to protect this family. These are stand alone books that create the series, but they do not need to be read in order. The story is more enhanced if read in order.

He leaned to the side, putting most of his weight on one arm while the other pushed a few strands of hair away from the side of my face.  “I love you and want to care for you.”   His hand traveled up to touch the inside of my wrist.  “These scars were made from him, not me.  I’ll never bind you with rope, handcuffs, or anything that could cause damage to your perfect skin.  How someone could do this so callously is beyond me?”
My panic began to subside, and I felt myself relax.
His eyes were warm, his hands tender caresses to my skin, as he asked, “Can you trust me?”
I didn’t have to think long about my answer.  “You’re the first man I’ve been able to trust since my divorce.  The only one I’d trust with my soul.”
His eyes sparkled as he leaned down and kissed me gently, “I trust you with mine as well.  If I didn’t, I wouldn’t have let you go ballistic on my ass with that flogger.”  He quirked a lopsided smile that melted my heart.  At that moment, I didn’t know where this crazy ride we were on was leading, but I knew I wanted it to be with him.
I felt remorseful about earlier.  “I can’t express how sorry I am about…”
His finger came up to silence me as he shook his head.  “It’s done.  It’s over with.  We’ll never make mention of it again.  Tonight is all about you.  I want your complete surrender to me.  I want to keep your arms bound with a silk scarf and your eyes focused on mine.  I want you to know that I’m the one in charge.  It’s my face you’ll associate with pleasure, pulling every possible orgasm out of this body that I can, leaving you spent and craving more.  What do you say, love?”
“Yes, my love.  Yes, Sir.”
His lips crushed mine as his hands circled underneath my shoulders, pulling me onto him even harder.  He’d finally released my lips, leaning over me saying, “Eyes on me, darling.  I want you to know how perfect we are together.  I’m the one bringing you this pleasure and no one else.  Your mine, Marjorie!  Say it, love.”
The love and intensity in his eyes held me captive.  I felt our souls and body connect on a level I’d never encountered.  I couldn’t tell where either of us began or ended.  The sensations building inside of me were different than before.  His movements were sweet, gentle, yet claiming all at once.
“Your mine now, Marjorie.  Come for me, love.  Be one with me, now.”  His words were a beacon of light to me, freeing me from the dark confines of my past, knowing that with him I could finally open myself up to new things and allow him to guide me.  I knew with Ethan, I’d be safe.
I cried as my muscles locked down on him, sending electrical waves of current throughout my entire body.  His lips sealed over mine, absorbing my cries of passion while he pumped into me one last time. Feeling the intensity of his release, I wrapped my legs tightly around his waist not wanting him to separate from me.
Fireworks continued to go off behind my eyes, for what seemed like an eternity.  Our breath was nearly spent. He finally broke off our kiss and collapsed into my neck.  “My god, I love you, woman.  I’m addicted to every part of you.”
I felt my body relax onto the sheets, not caring anymore that my wrists were bound together and over my head.  All I felt was utter peace and tranquility.  I let out a ragged breath, “I love you too.    I’m completely captivated by your mind, body, and soul.”

Review

5 Stars ☆☆☆☆☆
I am really struggling to put into words how good this book is. The authors style of writing makes the book flow and easy to read. The characters are so loveable, they make you want to be their friend too.
It has been a few weeks since reading this and I still think about them on a daily basis. When you read this book (and the authors other books)  they really ingrain themselves deep into your heart and mind, and they stay there.
Lo is an art student in college who meets a HOT guy whilst at a party with her roommate. They have an instant connection that neither can deny. But when Lo wakes the next day she can’t remember his name, the only thing she remembers is hot hot his hands are and his eyes. Lo’s family don’t believe in her or  her art, making her more determined to succeed.
King comes across as a jerk at first and it makes you wonder what Lo saw in him. When  you see how adorable he is with his niece you realise there is another side to him.
King’s brother Kash is a professional BMX rider and King takes care of the business side of Kash’s career.
My favourite character has to be Charlie, just because I'm British like her, and the things she comes out with make me laugh. Kenzie the sassy little 10 year old is also one of my favourite characters. The things she says and the attitude she has is hilarious.  There is a lot of comedy in this book as well as the serious and heart breaking parts.
I absolutely loved this book and highly recommend it as the next book for you to fall in love with!!
The Weight of Rain is one of my top 5 favourite books EVER!

Excerpt
“Why are you fidgeting again?” Allie’s scolding is in the form of a whisper but still reaches my ears as a yell because I know by the sharp look in her eye that she’s ready to stab me with a pin if I don’t stop.

“Sorry,” I whisper. I work to ignore an itch on the back of my neck and another on my shoulder. As I think about how much I hate standing still and why I didn’t see King at all today though he always works in the home office on Fridays, I feel several more tickles across my skin that arise because I know I can’t move.

My eyes scan over the large space that we’re filling. There are at least two hundred other students in here, each with a model who, like me, is standing atop a crate, making a select few of us even more uncomfortably tall. Several people look perfectly relaxed as they stand completely still, their shoulders back and chins raised as though they’re already on stage. My eyes trace over each of them, noticing their poise, boldness, and beauty.

“She’s really pretty.”

Allie’s looks up at me with minimal interest. “Who?”

“The girl over there with the dark blond hair.” I nod in the direction of where she’s standing.
“You’re an artist, Lo. She’s definitely pretty, but her confidence is what makes her stand out so much.”

Allie’s comment makes me stare longer at the girl, noticing her eyes are a little too close together, and her forehead too short to be what is believed to be the definition of attractive. It brings me to hate those ignorant facts even more because she is beautiful, and I’m grateful she seems to believe so without meeting the dictated standards.

“Lo,” Allie hisses in warning, making my hand drop from where it’s rubbing across my mostly bare thigh.

“You should really consider asking Kenzie.”

“I would have if I had known you have ADHD. What’s with you?”

“I don’t know.”

“It’s because you can’t draw, huh?” My attention drops to Allie as she places another pin along the hemline.

“That’s definitely not helping.”

“When do you think you’ll be able to hold a pencil again? Are your professors freaking out?”

“I don’t know. I’m hoping by the end of this week so I can draw while I’m home for Christmas.”

“Are you excited?”

Her gaze remains fixed on the dress as I raise my eyebrows, her question sinking into my thoughts. “I guess. I don’t know.”

“You don’t talk about your family much.” Allie’s eyes dart to mine for just a fraction of a second, but I’m sure it’s long enough to notice mine working to evade contact.

“There’s not a whole lot to say.”

“What happened to your mom this week?” I feel her briefly glance up again before moving her hands to a new spot where she begins measuring the fabric for the next pin.

“Something came up. I’m sure I’ll see her after the holidays. You know how this time of year is.”

She places a white chalk pencil between her teeth and nods slowly as if debating that it’s the correct response. She frees it again, intently focusing on the fabric, and places a careful mark. “You aren’t mad?”

I shrug, earning a glare from her that I return with a frown. Her lips fall open into a laugh. “You just need to focus on someone and mentally draw them; otherwise, you’re never going to make it out of here tonight, at least not without a thousand pinholes.”

My neck twists as I look around the room again. There are so many people in here. So much beauty, anticipation, desire, and passion: things I seek for my own inspiration, yet when I close my eyes and start sketching lines across my imagination, they don’t make up anyone that’s in here. I think I’d be surprised at this point if they ever do again.

There are times like yesterday when I genuinely wish I hated him. Hell, he’s been a jackass to me enough that I could justifiably say I do, and anyone would be able to understand where I’m coming from. Then again, that would also require having someone to discuss my feelings for and interactions with him.

I wish I hadn’t been exposed to the kinder sides of him.
I wish I didn’t see how he acts around Mercedes to witness his unconditional love for her.

I wish my memories of that night were fading rather than becoming clearer.

I wish I wasn’t falling for this asshole.

I wish he’d fall for me.
