See, its all about keeping the balance, something the reapers work hard to do. They don't know what came before or what comes after.
They work for milenia doing the same thing. So when Nivian decides to take a foray into human life and do the things we hate to do - the results are hilarious. I have to say I found this book not only a good read, but funny too.
The author has managed to find something different in a packed genre it was refreshing to read and personally would love to read more about Nivian.
Especially if she decides to try doing housework! ;-)

Nivian leaped over the edge of the bridge and landed with a soft tap on the surface of the water. She reached down, pulled the soul of the driver up by the collar of his shirt, and stood him up next to her on top of the water. She took the driver’s hand, palm up, in hers and waved her other hand over his. Pinching the air, she pulled and lifted up to expose his life thread. His wide eyes stared unblinking, hypnotized by the glowing string of light. Nivian reached behind her and grabbed the scythe strapped to her back, and swung. With a slow, deliberate movement, Nivian sliced the human’s life thread.
The light formed into a ball and hovered between them. She pulled out a small pocket watch and guided the life energy down to the watch. It sunk into it and disappeared. She snapped the watch closed and returned it to her pocket.
“You should know better than to drink and drive. You could’ve seriously hurt someone.” He gaped at her, his mouth opened and closed like a fish.
“Yes, you really are dead,” she confirmed and gave him an apathetic look as she turned away.
“Are you … the devil?” he managed to sputter.
“No, of course not. I am just the natural order of things,” she said, looking back over her shoulder.
“Wait here. Your spirit counselor will be here soon to guide you to your afterlife. I have other jobs tonight.” She spun on her heel and walked away, as she pulled her hood back up over her head and vanished.

Flirting with Death
Evander doesn't expect any trouble when he goes after his mark... but he finds it in Piper. He can't leave, but can't stay either. I was glued to this and i'm all teased to hell reading this short story and can't wait to find out what happened!! I'm also wondering if Silas will have any reapers left because they seem to be dropping quicker than their marks!!

“Stop. He is gone.” Evander said calmly. Why would she waste so much energy on someone who had no chance.
“Don’t tell her to stop,” Tony snapped. Oh, right. That guy was still here. Where was a spirit counselor when you needed one? And at that moment,she showed up.
“Yeah, yeah, I know. Don’t tell me. I’m late, am I right?” She waved a hand in the air dismissively.
“I should have known it would be you, Cassandra. Please take him.”
“Don’t boss me around, you fancy assassin. I know how to do my job.” She bit out, then turned to her assignment.

I am really torn writing this review. I can't decide if i liked the book or not.
Kailee cried way too much.
I really dislike the phrase 'A single tear' and that was said a lot.
Boyds parents or sister never went to see the baby.
When Boyd left to go back to New York for a bit he didn't even say goodbye to Emmy, he just left. As soon as i think things are getting better between them and they are getting on...BAM she asked him to leave!! That i struggled to understand.
However, after all that negativity there were parts that were written really well, well enough that when they were speaking on the phone towards the end it made me cry. There was a lot of potential in this book and i really think that Jasmine is capable of it (there was parts that proved she can) but it just needs a little work.
And i absolutely love the cover.

1. Can you relate to any of your characters in Nothing Ever lasts?
Yes. When I write any of my books I always write the female MC to have my attitude. Plus I went through some of the same dilemmas Kailee goes through in NEL.
2. In NEL they go 'Mudding' is that something you like to do?
Yes, I use to love go muddin. Of course now it’s a bit harder to do but when my husband goes I tag along ;)
3. Who was your inspiration for the main characters in NEL?
Ahh...that would be Bri Jay and Eric Marshall from the Skipping Stones Series cover shoot. The way they interacted throughout the day of the shoot gave me the idea.
4. When did you start writing?
I’ve always wrote but never did anything with it until this last year
5. Who are some of your favourite authors?
Tough one. I like alot of different authors so I’ll leave it at that
6. Who inspired you to start writing?
Not someone but boredom when I was a teenager.

Paranormal and historical fiction

Well lets see, I could tell ya a grand story full of A-list celebrities but lets face it, that only happens in books. I'm married and have two kiddos a son who is a avid baseball player and a daughter who is very passionate about horses. I was born and raised in a small country town in Deep East Texas.
